When to visit Greece

If you want to enjoy the sun and sand but avoid the crowds, the best time to visit Greece is in the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to October). These months offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and a better travel experience. For island hopping, ferry services are also more frequent and regular between May and September.

Here are some important details that you should know before you go:

Language - Greek is the official language spoken in Greece. English is also widely spoken, especially in tourist areas and urban centres.
Money - The currency used in Greece is the Euro (€). Many shops, hotels, and restaurants in Greece will accept payment by credit or debit card, specifically Visa and Mastercard. Contactless payment is also becoming common. Though, cash is still considered best.
Time zone and daylight - Greece observes Eastern European Standard Time (GMT +2) in winter, and experiences daylight savings time (GMT +3) during the summer (March 30 to October 26).
Electricity - Greece uses two types of electrical outlets: type C and type F. Type F is the standard for new installations, while type C is found in older installations.
Clothing - Greece is hot, dry and very sunny, so you will want to wear light weight loose clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Don't forget your hat and sunglasses!
