Exhilarating Mount Etna

"Going to almost the top of a volcano, seeing steam being emitted from a nearby crater was pretty special. Walking around a crater in the chilling cold with mist floating intermittently around the peaks and the snow contrasting with the dark volcanic rock was eerily beautiful. Add to the splendour of the landscape a feeling of personal achievement at being able to complete the walk and you have a never-to-be-forgotten, exhilarating experience."

A magical day in festive Salzburg

"On our Christmas in the Austrian Tyrol tour we had a full day to explore the old town of Salzburg and it was like being in a dream. From the ancient fortress overlooking Salzburg, to the warm inviting restaurants offering hearty schnitzels to the twinkling of the lights in the Christmas markets… it is a day we will never forget."

Treated like Royalty

"The highlight of our Best of British tour was The Lake District and the pace in which we explored this beautiful place was a standout. But without a doubt our day and overnight stay in Leeds Castle was the icing on the cake. Having the entire castle and grounds to ourselves and being treated like royalty was amazing."

White Christmas Magic

"Our stay in Zermatt was certainly the highlight of our Albatross tour. It snowed for 3 out of the 4 days and that was what the holiday was all about – a white Christmas in Zermatt. It was a magical, memorable time!"

Stunning views from the top

"On our Italian Grande tour we saw so many amazing things and had so many amazing experiences. For me, I think the chairlifts I went on are right at the top. I used to be terrified of going on chairlifts or in cable cars, but age and some experiences have helped me conquer that fear to a great extent. And I am so glad that is the case. We road the Belvedere chairlift at Macugnaga. Sitting beside my (not very well that day) husband with a gentle breeze wafting by, beautiful views below and stunning mountains above was exhilarating and relaxing at the same time. A true mountain experience. The single chairlift at Anacapri was yet another level. Sitting by myself required a new level of courage - and was worth every bit! The views were unbelievable and gave a superb perspective of the Isle of Capri. Something I will never forget."

Mr and Mrs Claus

"We had lots of fun on our tour but the most memorable would be Christmas Eve when we all gathered to do our Kris Kringle. My husband dressed up as Santa and I was Mrs Claus, which seemed to give the whole experience a lift and my husband handed out the gifts wishing everybody a Merry Christmas. The locals were laughing and appeared to be enjoying the atmosphere too."

Soaking up the scenery

"The most amazing experience on my tour was the cable car ride to the top of the mountain in Tegelberg. Sadly, the view to die for, that we were expecting, didn't eventuate, as the clouds closed in. The ride down made up for it though. I also loved the chair lift ride that I took in 'My Time' in Fussen. It was a lovely day and just sitting quietly when I got to the top of the mountain, soaking up the magnificent scenery was perfect, as it was the 23rd anniversary since my late husband passed away and I felt he was there sharing the moment with me."
